In the state of Minnesota a minor under the age of 16 may not work more than 40 hours a week and no more than 8 hours per 24 hour period except agriculture. The hours someone under the 16 can work are from 7am to 9pm with the exception of a paper route, during the school year they may not work over three hours a week or past 7pm. Also in Minnesota the federal minimum wage is $7.25 for a “large employer” which is a business that exceeds $625,000 annually. If you work at a ”small employer” the state minimum is $5.25 which is a business where their gross income is below $625,000.
